Saddlebag Lake And 20 Lakes Basin
Books cried last night. Little weeps and meows and then pressed his weight into the door. He did this for hours and I feel like a mom with a newborn or something. I guess this information is inconsequential but what I want to really say is I’m tired but I find it important to write or share despite it because I will always feel tired, and that maybe something interesting is born out of exhaustion.
When a new friend (Ronnie) invited everyone to go on a backpacking trip to saddlebag lake I thought I must take this opportunity! I just met them the other week on a short bike ride and I found them to be warm and kind. I immediately found a way to get my Friday shift covered and it was done. I’m usually very long winded so I will try my best to keep this brief.
New additions to my pack: headlamp, kula cloth, bedrock sandals. What I wish I brought: base layer, sleeping bag liner, salami, bug spray. It is surprisingly very very cold at night at 10,000 feet elevation. What I didn’t use: nothing, I used everything. Highlights: hanging out with friends, insanely beautiful nature, hiking in sandals, taking a dip in an alpine lake, laughing. Negatives: cold, 8 hour drive to and back home. Would I do this again? Of course but I am very curious about taking public transit next time even though it takes 11 hours ;-)…
Big shout out to Ronnie & Maggie my new friends who I admire and I am grateful for making it such a fun adventure. Shout out to Alex cause I love him and he’s the best person to experience life with. Books… no shout out please stop being naughty.
